About Sarah

Hi there!

My name is Sarah and I have been registered as a Counselling Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa for the last 15 years.

For the last two years, I have focused my work on providing psychotherapy for clients in my private practice in Israel. In this role, I have been fortunate to see clients from a wide range of backgrounds - native Israelis, as well as Olim.

As anyone who lives here will know, living in Israel and making Aliyah (whether recently or many years ago) forms such a core part of one's identity, psychological development and mental health, and I am really passionate about my work in this context.

Before moving to Israel, I practiced as a Psychologist for 13 years in South Africa. During this time, I gained extensive experience in providing in-person and online therapy for adults and parents in private practice, as well as in the non-profit and employee wellness sector. I also had the wonderful experience of lecturing and supervising psychology students at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level.

I love opportunities for growth and learning, and this led me to complete my Ph.D. in 2022, which explored new fathers' experiences of fatherhood. I have subsequently published numerous articles on parenting in South African and International Psychology Journals. I also enjoy sharing psychological ideas through storytelling, and this has led me to publish a children's book

As a client in therapy, I have personally experienced the benefits of therapy.

I believe that therapy has forever shaped my approach to life, my relationships, and my parenting, and it has helped me create meaningful and rewarding relationships. Knowing how much I have benefited from therapy, I love guiding others through their own therapeutic process.

As a therapist, I have been fortunate to assist many clients through various phases of their lives. It is always my goal to provide a safe and comfortable space in which clients feel heard and understood. I work together with my clients to make sense of who they are and what they need from therapy. I draw primarily on psychodynamic therapy in my work, but I also incorporate cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) where necessary. From my training and experience as a therapist, I have learned to develop a comprehensive understanding of each client and to tailor the therapy according to each client's particular needs. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you in therapy.
