My Story

Prof pic most recent.jpeg

Hi there! My name is Sarah and I have worked as a Counselling Psychologist (registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa) for the last fourteen years. During this time, I had the privilege of providing in-person and online therapy for adults and parents in private practice, as well as in the NGO and employee wellness sector. I have also had the wonderful experience of lecturing and supervising psychology students at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level. I love opportunities for growth and learning, and I recently completed my Ph.D. which explored new fathers' experiences of fatherhood. I have also published numerous articles on parenting in South African and International Psychology Journals.

As a client in therapy, I have personally experienced the benefits of therapy and I believe that therapy forever changed the course of my life. It gave me a much needed space to learn about myself and develop my ability to build meaningful and rewarding relationships. It continues to shape my approach to life and parenting.

As a therapist, I have been fortunate to assist many clients through various phases of their lives. It is always my goal to provide a safe and comfortable space in which clients feel heard and understood. I work together with my clients to make sense of who they are and what they are needing from therapy. I draw on psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) in my work. This approach enables me to develop a comprehensive understanding of my clients and it allows me to tailor the treatment process to each of my clients' specific needs. I really look forward to getting to know you and working with you in therapy.
