Aliyah

Before you go...

As an expat from South Africa, I have experienced how challenging it can be to decide to emigrate and go ahead with the move. I also have a sense of the enormity of the decision, the risks it entails and some of the feelings that emigration can stir up. I am really passionate about helping emigrants with this major life transition.

In my practice, I offer an emigration course that can be one-on-one, or in a group (all online). The emigration course is aimed at helping prospective emigrants prepare for their upcoming emigration. The course covers everything you need to know from a psychological perspective, so that your mind can be freed up to manage all the practical tasks that come with emigrating.

Some of the commonly discussed themes include:

- Identify YOUR reasons

- How to create a step-by-step plan

- How to protect your mental health during emigration

- Understanding the psychological and emotional aspects of emigration

- How to tell your friends and family

- The psychology behind packing up and choosing what to take with you/ leave behind

- Getting ready to say 'goodbye' and getting ready to say 'hello'

- Building a new home that feels like home

- Helping everyone settle: How to plan ahead to make the move as smooth as possible (extra tips and ideas for older individuals, couples & families with children)

Emigration is considered to be one of the most stressful life events that one can experience. Having support and a space to make sense of the transition can make all the difference!

The online emigration course for groups consists of 2 x 1.5 hour sessions. The dates for the next course are the 3rd and 10th of September, and the course will be from 19:00 - 20:30 (South African time). The cost of the course is R1200 (individuals) and R1800 (couples). The course is interactive and experiential, with worksheets that can help you prepare and plan for your emigration.

The online one-on-one consult is R3200 for a 2 hour session. The consult will be tailored to your specific needs and concerns. You will be given handouts and worksheets to help guide you through the emigration process and to help you create your emigration plan.

To reserve your place on the course or to book a consult, please send me a message using the button below.

Once you have landed...

Having made Aliyah (moved to Israel) myself, I have experienced what it feels like to embark on such a major life change, and I have a sense of some of the feelings that aliyah can stir up. The experience of emigration is different for everyone, and I have a passion for helping new olim through their personal process.

If you are finding aliyah challenging, therapy can support you as you adapt to life in Israel and find your feet.

If you decide that Israel is not for you afterall, therapy can help you take your next steps.

It is important to remember that aliyah is a major life change that can create a lot of stress and worry. If you have left people behind in your home country, it can also come with a lot of grief. During the challenging times, people often find themselves wondering if they have made the right decision. The truth is that making aliyah is a task that is both practically and psychologically demanding. Often, the focus has to be on all the practicalities that need to be taken care of, leaving little time for the emotional aspects of Aliyah. It is so important to give yourself a space to process the move and to figure out your next steps. If you think that you might be interested in counselling to help you through this stage of your life, feel free to contact me so that we can chat.
